What is Java

Java is a programming languagewidely used now a days. Java is a language  as well as a platform.

Platform: platform is an  environment in which a program runs or executed . Because Java has its own runtime environment which is called java run time enviourment  (JRE) and Api it is called platform.

Types of Java Applications

 java programming used to develop  four type of applications :

1) Standalone Application

It is also referred to as window-based application which operate on a single computer  . An application that we have to set up on every machine such asvlc and  microsoft word etc. Standalone Applicationapplication are developed by AWT as well as Swing .

2) Web Application

An application that operates on the web server side and anyone can use it by using it`s domain address  is called Web application. servlet, jsp, struts, jsf are used for creating web application in java .

3) Enterprise Application

An application that operate at intranet is called Enterprise Application. In javaEnterprise Application is developed by  EJP .

4) Mobile Application

An application that operate on  mobile devices. Presently Androidis very popular mobile application used now a days .
